Brown the sum of Eighty dollars in full of all demands up to date this receipt also exhonerates the said Thomas A Brown and John Carns from all Liability upon a certain letter of credit given by the said Thos A. Brown in favor of John Carns some time during the summer of 1851 -- said letter having been lost, and upon the faith of which I delivered for the order of said John Carns a quantity of cord wood, for which the above sum is paid him the full amount now on the same Martines 2nd of December 1851 --- John Marsh
