No. 7 Certificate of Sale for Taxes. State of California, County of Contra Costa. } SS. I, James C. Hunsaker, Sheriff and Tax Collector of the County of Contra Costa, do hereby certify, that by virtue of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, entitled "An Act to provide Revenue for the Government of the State," passed May 15, 1854, and the several Acts amendatory thereof, and by virtue of an Act entitled "An Act to provide Revenue for the Support of the Government of the State," passed april 29, 1857, a tax was imposed upon certain property situated within the limits of said County, and described on the Tax List or Assessment Roll of said County which was delivered to me by the County Auditor on the 20th day of September 1858, as follows to Wit: M R Barber And all owners and claimants known or unknown improvements on town lots nos 5 and 6 in Block no 22 of Welch addition to Martinez also twenty five and a half acres of the Welch or Las Juntas grant described as follows commencing at the southwest corner of Barbers field thence west twenty two chains and two links to the west boundary of said ranch thence south twenty six east twenty one chains to the pasture fence of Barber thence following said fence as it was on the 2d day of April 1857 north forty five and a half east eighteen chains, thence north two west six and a half chains to the place of beginning. Also lot number forty seven containing one hundred and forty eight acres of land of the Welch or Las Juntas grant according to the map of the division thereof on file in the Probate records of Contra Costa County reference thereto being made as a part of this description - for location metes and bounds; also lot number twelve containing three hundred and twenty acres of same ranch, Survey map division and reference as in lot number forty seven as aforesaid; also fifty six acres of land including the dwelling of said Barber on said Welch ranch described as follows commencing at a point on the Arroyo del Hambre opposite the south west corner of Browns pasture fence thence southerly with the county road to the line of lot number forty seven aforesaid thence westerly with and continuing the line of said lot forty seven to the Arroyo thence meandering said Arroyo to the place of beginning, also the following lots and blocks in the Welch addition to the town of Martinez the survey of said addition is on record in the Probate court record of the County of Contra Costa reference to which is made for more complete descripton; Lots number 3 and 4 in block number 64 lots one and 2, block 4, lots 4, 5 and 6 block 22, lots 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8 block 60, lots 3 and 4. block 62, lots 1, 6, 7, and 8. block 23. block 64. 256, and one ninth of block 331, south corner north one fifth lots 3 block 326 also in the original survey of Martinez, lots 5 6 and 7 block 92, lots 1 and 2, block 6, lot 7 block 36, lots 3 and 4 block 4 lots 5, 6 block 47, ** lots 7 and 8 block 34, lot 4 block 355, lot 4, block 54, lot 5, block 38 lot 5 block 35. lots 4, 6, 7, and 8, block 11, lots 3 and 8 block 17, lot 4 block 19. lots 1 and 2, block 31 lots 4, 7, and 8 in block 33. 17.28 improvements 285[9?] which property was assessed to M R. Barber, and all owners and claimants known, or unknown and the Taxes were Levied on it according to Law and these taxes had not been paid on the 3rd Monday of October 1858, at the close of my official business of that day.
