Description |
Pinole Library Chronology: Contra Costa County Library establishes branch in the Pinole Opera House (March 5, 1914). Mr. L. P. Brandt builds Pinole’s first library building, an 8x10 foot corrugated sheet metal structure, on the corner of San Pablo Avenue at School Street on a lot where he and Mrs. Brandt lived (1917). Pinole builds a combined firehouse, jail, and library (March 6, 1926). Library moves to rented quarters at 2435 San Pablo Avenue (October 8, 1959). Pinole deposit station becomes a branch library (June 1, 1960). Library moves to larger space in a storefront at 2220 Pear Street (1961). Groundbreaking for new library (January 3, 1973). Pinole Branch Library opens (October 28, 1974). Dedication of the Pinole Branch Library (December 8, 1974). Pinole Library closes for renovation (February 14, 2002). During renovation, basic library services offered to Pinole residents at temporary satellite library in Pinole Valley Shopping Center (February-August 2002). Pinole Library Grand Reopening celebration (September 29, 2002). |
