Description |
El Cerrito Library Chronology: Rust Branch Library opens in Rust (now El Cerrito) post office (October 31, 1913). Library moves to the home of Dr. Joseph T. Breneman (1915). Rust Branch Library changes name to El Cerrito Branch Library (1916). Dedication of branch library in building on Fairmont Avenue (June 2, 1925). Edward A. Valentino, Mrs. Howard Lathe, Mrs. Clarence Roen, Charles Gibbs, Robert Coctrell, Mrs. Nick Marcovich, F. C. Shallenberger, and R. B. Trimble form a committee to plan for library expansion (1946). New El Cerrito Library dedicated (February 27, 1949). Enlarged El Cerrito Branch Library dedication takes place (November 12, 1960). Community helps plant first demonstration Native Garden on Library's west side (2001). |
