Description	Lafayette Library Chronology: County Library opens branch in a corner of the Lafayette post office (1915). Lafayette Improvement Club purchases old Lafayette School building, moves it to Main Street as enlarged quarters for the combination post office and library (1924). Library moves to Town Hall (1937). Lafayette Improvement Association spearheads organization and incorporation of the Lafayette Cooperative Library Association raise funds and uses WPA labor to build a library with a 1,800-book capacity on school district property (1940). Lafayette Library Association deeds the library to Contra Costa County; the County assumes the cost of adding a wing for a children’s area (1949). Groundbreaking for new Lafayette Branch Library (June 5, 1961). Dedication of the Lafayette Branch Library (March 25, 1962). Closing day of the old Lafayette Library (October 17, 2009). Grand Opening of the new Lafayette Library and Learning Center (November 14, 2009).
